In Reply to: RE: Male AC Connector to Mate with Oyaide C-046 IEC on Flavor 1? posted by Jim Hodgson on January 25, 2017 at 15:57:40
Unless you seek less warmth than what a gold plated AC connector tends to provide, the palladium over gold Oyaide 046 AC connectors tend to be best implemented for warmer sounding power cords than a Flavor 1, but if the power cord is terminated with a gold Oyaide P-079 AC plug at the other end, and plugged into a gold Furutech AC outlet of the Furutech E-TP60, you might find good synergy with the Flavor 1, but it's difficult to predict how the presentation might sound to your own ears, within your own particular system. Another option might be a gold Furutech AC plug, but a gold Oyaide P-079 AC plug should be a better option if not a safer bet when used in conjunction with a palladium over gold Oyaide C-046 IEC connector at the other end of the Flavor 1. YMMV

Thanks for the recommendation, Duster! Looking at your system details, I see that you use FI-11M (Cu) AC plugs and FI-11 (Ag) IECs on your Flavor 1 -- not to mention on numerous Flavor 2s as well. Leaving aside my interest in pressing this C-046 into service, is the Furutech Cu/Ag combination what you'd prefer to recommend for my Flavor 1? That's the real goal, here -- i.e., to replace those brass WattGates with something better for, and well-suited to, the Flavor 1. I could use the C-046 elsewhere. Thanks again!
My Inmate Systems page is way out of date, and while the unplated Furutech FI-11M(Cu) AC plug and silver Furutech FI-11(Ag) IEC connector was once a favorite combination for the Flavor power cords, I prefer gold plated AC connectors for the Flavor power cords at this time. That said, I think a gold Oyaide P-079 AC plug and palladium over gold Oyaide C-046 IEC connector combination could be considered a higher-performance version of the Furutech FI-11M(Cu) AC plug and silver Furutech FI-11(Ag) IEC connector combination, since the concept of a faster sounding IEC connector is involved in both recipes, and the palladium over gold Oyaide C-046 IEC connector is not as lean sounding as the silver Furutech FI-11(Ag) IEC connector. So in my opinion, a P-079/C-046 AC connector combination for your Flavor 1 should be a thumbs-up configuration for your particular application.
