I've been tweaking my ham radio audio of late. I spend more time on this hobby of late and it has cut into my audio hobby. Nothing here to add.

I was talking to a coworker back in April and he mentioned he was taking his Extra his son was taking the Technician test in May. I told him how I was always interested and said I should take the test too because I should have no problem passing it. He pointed me to QRZ.com and the practice tests.
I did couple weeks of taking a practice test or two every night and went with him to the testing. I aced the technician and went ahead and took the General since it does not cost anymore to take multiple tests on the same day.
Well in the end I walked out with my General and my coworker got his Extra.
There are so many people getting out of amateur radio these days you can pick up used gear for a song. I have since picked up a Rat-Shack HTX212 2-meter, an Icom IC-740 HF transceiver, and a Cushcraft R-7 all band vertical antenna just off my local craigslist. Just ordered a 100 feet of RG-213U today and set the pole for the antenna.
I am probably going to get involved in the local club and the emergency radio group.
Packet radio has really peaked my interest. (Radios+Computers=Cool)
I have an Icom 735 that still works great. When you get up and going we should try to talk. Where are you located?
