Hi,I have a PS Audio wall outlet ("Power Port"). It made a slight difference (improvement? not sure) when I installed it a couple years ago.
Since then, I have tried other PS Audio wires/cables and hated all of them with a burning passion.
Is there a good brand of outlet that everyone agrees on? Even if it provides only "good" improvement? I don't need "absolute best incredible." And I am not a detail nut in my music listening. Just want it to be musical.

I did a lot of experimentation with receptacles a few years ago including various Hubbells, Pass and Seymours (the basic receptacle for the Acmes), Arrow Hart, Leviton, etc. I have no experience with the Furutech or the Oyaides (the Oyaides are just too expensive for me and I firmly believe you need to run the same receptacle everywhere in your system, ie. in line conditioners and for multiple outlets in your system) to really get a feel for what the receptacle is doing. Experimenting with those receptacles would get mighty expensive and mixing receptacles does not allow you to realize what one receptacle really sounds like and they do sound different. From your description of what you are seeking, I'd agree with a number of the posters below with their suggestion of the Hubbell 8200H or 8300H (make sure you buy the H designated Hubbell-the plain 8200 and 8300 have nickel plated contacts like your PS Audio which is actually heaped with extra nickel which, in my opinion, makes it worse, not better).
By far the best deal on cryoed 8200H or 8300H Hubbells is at Takefiveaudio. He may charge a bit more for delivery to the U.S. but if you are purchasing more than 1 receptacle you are still going to be way ahead of the game. Also keep in mind the Take Five price is in Canadian $$ so it is actually about 15% less or about $18 or $19. Buy the cryoed version-it is well worth it, but if you want to do yourself a favor and make sure that the receptacle will sound its best, replace your refrigerator or freezer receptacle with the cryoed Hubbell when you get it and run the fridge/freezer on each half of the receptacle for 2 weeks to fully burn it/them in. Then put them in your system. I'm sure you'll be happy, especially for the outlay.

head and shoulders above the furu. Cu and Au and P&S 5242 in my system. I snapped the heads off of two of the screws on the furu's tightning them down.....IMO the Oyaide's and better built and more importently, again to me, sonicly a level above everything else
Acme audio cryo treated outlet try Jeff at Value Audio. This outlet made A SUPER HUGE improvement on my sound and I could attest to it...
I am tempted toward gold...Anybody with impressions of how gold is likely to sound vs. copper?
Dont know if it sounds better. I have both and find teh Gold/Cooper are very similar. Maybe the Gold is slightly smoother (gold is a worse conductor than copper). However the surface of the copper parts will oxidize far more rapidly than the gold plated ones so the sound will likely drift over time.
Best and Better questions don't really work. In for a dollar, in for a pound; there's no experience like ones's own. I'd disagree with 75% of the posts here, but they would with me. You'll have to cough up the dough and try some out. There is no Best in this game. There are only - for the most part - differences; usually subtle. Some of these products are highly 'flavored' and may or may not be complimentary to your setup.
Considering the math matrix involved with the Oyaide offerings of (3) receptacles, (3) NEMA males, (3) IEC variations for *each piece of equipment, .... and you'll soon go batty with connector sniffing.

hospital grade...cheaper. Why do you need cryo for gosh sakes?

They have a pic of the 8200 instead, the 8300 is a 20 amp outlet.
I sure a slight oversight on thier part. Now to get back to my income tax forms and see what I can slide past them.
Hi,Yes the image we have for the HBL8300 is actually the HBL8200. The line drawing depicts the true configuration of the receptacle rated at 20A and has the t-slot for both 15 and 20A NEMA 5-15P and 5-20P plugs.
Thanks for pointing out the slight, we are taking images soon :)
it sounds great & is $40.I also have the Oyaide SWO-XXX in the wall and in my power strip, so i know what is better & the Furu still sounds great to me.
definitely a warmer sounding plug, but not slow. great match sonically & budgetwise to the furu fi plugs.
I like the Furu Cu in my system and it is a significant improvement.Look for the review and post by Al Sekela recently in Cables (here too?) about his shoot out with Oyaide, Furu, and hospital grade MRI outlets.
Furutech has revamped their AC receptaclke line since Al made his comparison.
The box you sent me on 24 January says "FP-15A."
Hi, Al. The version you have is the older style, I didn't have the new style until mid February...
So far I've heard that the newer Oyaides may not be quite as good, and seem to take longer to burn in, than the older ones from reading posts here. I have no direct Oyaide experience myself. So what is the difference with the new Furus, how would you describe the sonic delta and/or benefits, and do you think they stand up reasonably well in comparison with the twice as expensive Oyaides?
I know you're a dealer, of course, but your judgement is trusted enough by me and many here. So it shouldn't be a no-no for you to supply your complete impressions.
I have a number of them in the walls and a few in DIY Power strips, matched with the Furutech plugs male AC plugs takes it up another degree.
I'm very happy with them. Maybe one day I'll break down and try an Oyaide, but I'm in no hurry.
and spend $ on their better plugs. then, after you have the good plugs where you want them consider replacing the fi-15 outlet with their newest flavor of the month.I have Oyaide, but its really the system of outlets + plugs where i hear the synergy and benefits...not just in a single piece of AC gear.
the one area I don't have matching Oyaide is the female plugs, I use Furu fi-11 Ag IEC ends everywhere that I should have an Oyaide C-046 to match the males. its gonna be a long time before i my cable are all oyaide!
my guess is the fi-15 outlets with the fi-25 plugs would be dope...
The ACME silver plated cryoed outlet is another option.
Lots of folks here are praising the Oyaide stuff. From what I've read, each material has a different "sheen" and you'll want to match it carefully with your system.I'm running a cryo'ed medical-grade 20a Hubbell from Porter Power (search for Porter on Audiogon) and really like it. It wasn't expensive - under $40 plus shipping - and didn't add anything I could detect to the music. It just cleared things up a bit. No huge night/day revelations, just cleaner, more airy sounding music.
The Hubbell used by Albert is an 8300h.Here's a link that might interest you from a former PS Audio Power Port user who changed that out for a Porter Power cryo'ed Hubbell.
If you do a search of all Asylums for "hubbell porter cryo*" you'll find more, but similar, comments.
