I have one CDP which cannot read CDR/CDRW at all, how can I make it to read CDR ? For a non-engineer who like me, Am I just need to swap the CDP-len from one to another ?Am I need to "mod" the digital control circuit board as well ?
Follow Ups:
...as they work on a different principle (some polymers change their colour when "recorded", against physical "pits" in standard CDs).Maybe your CDP laser lens is somewhat dirty, or maybe your laser unit has lost some power: try first cleaning the lens very carefully and then, if it still doesnŽt read them, try checking the power output of that laser (youŽll need a tech man and some equipment to do that).
Luck. Regards
They cost more, but you might have luck with CDRW if you can't get any CDR's to work.
Mr. Ironwoods & Mr. pburkeThx ! I have made a close session. And always burn CDR in low speed 4X. Burn by NERO.
As what Mr. pburke say, the CDP is "designed" to not read CD-R. I think I should make my speech clearly. My CDP cannot "detect" any CDR. It always show "no dise", I have try different brand CDR: green, blue, gold, silver, black, except the rainbow one.
Anyway, I understand that it is not worth to do that, however, I just like the sound character of this Kenwood CDP, and Kenwood without new model can be bought nowaday. So I really hope could make it work well with CDR. What Kenwood sound like ? Not smooth, not details compare with my Marantz 17D, but only hard and sharp.
If a CDP cannot read CDR, this is > when you put a CDR inside, the motor will running, and the dise is flying, finally, the len try to search the "digital" on dise but fail. At that case, we can still try other brand CDR, it may work with some brand CDR.If a CDP cannot detect CDR, this is > when you put a CDR inside, it won't do anything, no motor running.

have you tried CD-Rs burned at really low speeds? My 16x burns never worked at all in my player, but when I started to do 4x and later 1x, it worked just fine.If it is "designed" to not read CD-R, just get a different player. It's not worth the hassle to try to teach it new tricks if it can't even do that.
Hi, I wouldn't expect all players to deal with CD-RW's, however most can cope with CD-R's. When the disk is burned, are you closing it out so that no more recording to it, is allowed? - close session.
