Yesterday, I found myself having pangs of remorse for having given up my McIntosh MR-78 after reading about Cougar's new MR-80. It lead me to read about the state of affairs in analog and digital in Europe. I found this recent development quite interesting, and I'm sharing the article cautiously as I see that the digital vs. analog radio debate has raised the hackles of many people here in the past.
In short, in late July the parliament of the second largest German state passed a resolution to halt further support of DAB+ in favour of 5G and support continued use of analog FM broadcast. From one of the cited articles: "Ultimately it was to be accepted [by the Niedersachsen parliament] that the listeners wanted to hold on to VHF." But the most striking statement in the blog article is: "MEPs also refuse to allow broadcasting to be switched off for FM broadcasting." It isn't clear, but I presume this refers to Members of European Parliament.
Hope this is interesting to others as well...

Follow Ups:
DAB is a technology seeking a market. IE it solves nothing.
FM band II is good enough, and there is a lot of hardware in place.
