Hey guys, I just purchased a used ST-2 Antenna. It did not come with any cable. Is there a prefered brand of cable I should use, or should I just go to any radio shack and buy what ever I see? Is there a prefered length. The shorter, the better?
Follow Ups:
I have a similar whip antenna made by FanFare. I'm using RG6 quad-shield from Radio Shack. Works fine.Shorter cable is better. Higher quality cable is desirable if running long lengths or if subjected to weather outdoors.
Without getting too techie about it, one factor to consider is dB signal loss per 100-feet at 100MHz. I picked 100-feet and 100MHz because those are commonly available data points for cable specs.... and 100MHz is within the FM broadcast band.
The shorter the better. I am using RG6 low loss satellite cable that was purchased from Radio Shack. Seems to work well.
Do you have it mounted outside or indoors?
It is mounted outdoors on a 8' mast.
