Comments appreciated. I have read the archives but seen very few users although many indicated that they were going to try it out. Any new inputs? How does it compare to affordable NOS like Amperex "Bugle-Boy" 6dj8s, etc.Also is the Ei 6dj8 supposed to copy the sonics of any vintage type? I am planning on using them in my Heart CD6000.
Follow Ups:
I've had a pair of these running for about 3 months now, and they're still well matched with good section balance. I tried them in my Njoe Tjoeb and they had good tone, but a little soft. Only a buffer stage in the Njoe Tjoeb, though, so they might do better in the Heart. I put them behind a pair of Tele 12AX7s in my PAS pre and they really sound good there--great tone. They remind me a lot of my better Bugle Boys if I had to pick a 6DJ8 that they "sound like". I actually prefer them to the BBs; tighter bass and a more delicate top end with the same sweet mids, so they maybe sound a little lighter overall. If you need a good 6DJ8, I can't see any reason to buy NOS any more--I think you'll like these. Can't beat the price.
I would concur with this post. I had the amperex bugle boys in my ARC SP-6-C-1 (I still have them, they aren't "shot" yet) and had similar impressions of how the Elite's sound. Well worth considering.
does it matter if I buy it from Triode as opposed to the tube shop (UK), etc.

Not true! There are other sources for matched tubes.

Including Jim, which is who I got mine from (quickly and for a reasonable price; thanks Jim!)
Well... for what its worth I just replaced the stock chinees tubes in my new pre with a matched set of these from triode electronics and was really happy with improvment.Thing is I haven't heard anything else.So This really isn't much help.But I really don't{at this time}feel the need to keep trying get a better tube.I really think they my system is sounding pretty good.Now all I need is just one more pair of Silver lace and I"m done{for now that is there's still those GR Alphas to build and,and,and.....}
