Hi Spantou 6GM5 is electrically equivalent to 7591 with button 9-pin out - 9MQ base. It fits the same socket as 12AX7. The exhaust tip is on the top of the tube.
7868 is electrically equivalent to 7591 with novar 9-pin with exhaust tip - 9RW base. This is a larger diameter ring of pins than 9MQ.
7591 is Octal based.
7591 was a Westinghouse developed tube. There is no real equivalent being made today.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I especially appreciated Amadeus' reminder of the Vacuum Tube Valley article, by Eric Barbour.
I concluded that I must have a quad made by Sylvania, in spite of coming in four different manufacturers/distributor boxes.

"Westinghouse was one of the largest manufacturers, developers, and distributors of receiving tubes in America.
Introduced in 1958 and registered with EIA in February 1960, it has hardly been written about in ANY vintage electronic publications.
We think that 7591 was developed and produced at Westinghouse's Bath, NY receiving tube factory."
