Does he need a partner to go in with some cash? Is this anywhere near Texas? I'd be interested in participating for the purpose of providing affordable tubes to builders and tube lovers who can't otherwise afford to get in the game.

He's going to make his best offer, and I told him about your knowledge and enthusiasm, we'll see what happens.
I can't make any promises but IF the offer is taken, we'll put together an inventory and I'll urge him contact you privately.
jeez ... $200.00 ??? that's a no brainer
a quad of almost anything in those boxes would cover that
well, a sawbuck or two anyway

Thanks, keep me posted. I have a good inventory of tubes for my own use, but I'm sure that's not the case for a lot of the hobbyists and builders on these forums. Above all, let's hope the lot he found doesn't get tossed out.

Here's one pretty decent tube, one opened, 4 unopened. (Left) And a couple of the larger one.
I was thinking they would probably have some of the external anode tetrodes lying around. The 8877 is a nice one, used to be popular in ham radio HF kilowatt amps. The smaller ones like 4CX150 and 4CX250 were also popular at one time, mostly for VHF repeaters. What do you mean they "pressured him to wrap things up"? I hope you don't mean the rest were thrown away.

I see that Eimacs (new?) go for around $2k. I wonder if NOS is less or more desirable? My friend got five of them, so no complaints. He also grabbed some Tung sols and some other cools stuff for $300 altogether.
As for "winding things up," we've all been there as collectors: one sibling says, "take everything, just buy me a six pack," but then another sibling shows up and is far more cautious and suspicious of anything that one is interested in. Granted, it's their stuff, they inherited after all.
Good news is that it's all going into storage sheds.
" it's all going into storage sheds. "
That's good. Be a major shame to see it hauled to the dump.
