I have acquired these and other Svetlana 6550's that were part of a RM9 amp purchase. The vintage is marked '98 on the glass the boxes show a winged c --the tubes do not.
My understanding is the winged c logo came sometime after 1998.
These are unused & test new on an Amplitrex and are RAM tested and labeled.
What do I really have here? Thanks for any assistance!

Thanks everyone for the confirmations. These are definitely '98 vintage along with the others. I know the owner and he stocked up on the RAM tubes from Roger when he bought the amp and never used several quads.
You have a match set of quads (one for each channel) and an amazing amp!
Congratulations!

about svetlana, winged c, s-logo and that fat printed black c-logo:
my additional advice:
avoid svetlana winged c tubes manufactured after 2010.

One of my spare quads was made up of late production runs. They're matched and test well, but you can see some physical anomalies. They weren't that expensive so I took a chance some years back.
Whether I ever get to them or not only time will tell.
Cheers!

"Square" holes are the tell-tale sign for Svetlana 6550 tubes made in St. Petersburg. The tube logo was changed as you say to Winged "C". Then manufacturing stopped in 2011.The St. Petersburg are the ones you want/have.
Congratulations getting these excellent tubes with your purchase. Especially if they test as new.
Cheers!

The "square" holes were only present on the 6550C version. The earlier 6550B and others had small round holes in the plate.
The "square" holes were made to allow a screen alignment tool to be used at the factory. The early versions had a lot of issues with misaligned screens. the "C" version did not.
Check out the thread I linked to below for more info.
Thanks Jim.
I'm pretty sure it was your threads where I first learned about the square holes and reasons for them!
Nice to revisit through the link.
Cheers!

Winged C is an old Svetlana logo.
my understanding was the winged C was always printed on the tube AND box until New Sensor took over. I never had Svetlana 6550's but all my el34's were winged C with bright, thick red lettering because I bought them earlier than 98.
I used a lot of them for Marshall repairs.
I used to live "under" that logo - just a block from the factory, I spent a lot of time within its walls. That logo was there at least from the fifties, and all the way through the eighties.
I know you know Victor, so I apologize if it seemed like I was correcting you. I was just replying to the thread to see if I could add anything.
Cheers!
