Guys, need info on their prices in NOS condition. Appreciate your feedback.
Follow Ups:
$59 per matched pair is fair market value....at $99 you get into RCA VT231 and much more desirable 6SN7 types (in general).
Best,
P
...The seller was a great guy, but, to be honest I don't really care for their sound as I thought I would.
Holy Macaroni! I thin it is time to liquidate some of my 6SN7 stash. Then before I spend it somewhere else, spend it as toy $$ to turn up one of the Diesels... :) PD nozzle install/pop adjustment is a $$$ job...LOL
cheers,
Douglas
Friend, I would not hurt thee for the world...but thou art standing where I am about to shoot.
Good job!
For a warmer sound try the RCAs - the older gray glass ones sound nice $99 pair...for a 6db increase in bass and good extension try the Ken Rad angled plates...about $200 pair.
Best,
P
Thanks.
the RCA VT 231 has a reputation as a spectacular tube for small ensemble or jazz, or other acoustic (especially female voice) music. It's just not very good at large scale stuff, and would not be a good choice if rock is your thing.
My opinion, for what it's worth. Your mileage may vary.
Thanks. Now gotta find an honest vendor...
Yes...perfect!
Paul
Exactly, I needed warmer sound, somehow I had an impression that these Syls have that tone, but they're quite revealing, the opposite of what I wanted, too much highs, otherwise fine tubes. Will try some others when funds allow.
$50 sounds fair if you are buying.
If you are selling, anything you want. Call them "BAD BOY CROME DOME SUPER TUBES" or something an ask $200
Those do not look like they are original boxes so "NOS condition" probably mean good testing used tubes. If they are from bulk packaging, it is best to show the bulk package too.
Thanks, man. Actually I paid for a pair of tall boy GTA-s from 54, got these instead. The seller claims he has no idea how this could've even happened, he's taking returns anyway, but offered me a deal of $75. They're not real NOS, but they are in great shape. Do you think $75 is too much?
