(Specifically 6SL7s) I was browsing 6SL7s & came upon these. They cost more than the others--are they pretty good?
Follow Ups:
Just MHO, but I didn't find Natural Sound tubes sound Natural :) Too fatiguing for me, but that might be just my system or my ears.
Thanks. They cost quite a bit more, so I was just wondering.
In 6SL7 world, NOS tubes are still quite affordable and in the majority of cases outperform New Production, especially in 3d soundstage, air and smoothness.
In a previous thread, someone turned me on to the idea of using RCA VT229s. They don't seem to be crazy expensive.
Yep, the RCA is great, smooth as good chocolate. Sylvania would give you a lot of liquidity, very musical tube. If you can find Brimar 6SL7, these are just superb, my go-to tube for 6sl7 - be careful, there are a lot of fakes of this one. 6188 and 6SU7 can be used in the 6sl7 spot and they are da bomb.
Thanks! I believe Upscale has Brimars in stock.
