RCA VT-231 may fit your "creamy, tubey" sound if VT-231 can substitute. You can also try Kenrad VT-231.I have several pairs of 6SN7/VT-231 as well as GTB and GTA tubes. For me, the sleeper is Raytheon VT-231. Soundwise, to me it has a bit of the lushness of RCA VT-231, the detail of Sylvania short bottle 6SNW, and the bold and big soundstage of Tungsol VT-231 at a budget price. In some applications, circuit dependent and from my experience, it will smoke the popular Sylvania Bad Boys 1952.

I have a pair of those Raytheons. A fairly rare tube I think. Tried them briefly when I got them, then put away in boxes and they haven't been seen since. Considering the positive impressions others have, I will have to give them another try as drivers in my amp.
I'm using these Raytheon tubes with Cary SLI-80 amp, an they sound exactly as you describe. I also tried KenRad tubes - they sound equally good but different (they have a warmer and sweeter sound).
Really nice tubes.

I have a Chinese 6L6 Tube amplifier. It is a single ended 6 watts per channel amp.
My Speakers are 96 DB efficient Acoustic Research AR 1's with 500 watt Sunfire powered 15 inch woofers, so the little Chinese amp drives the shit out of them.
The original 6SN7 tubes were Russian OTK tubes, that actually sounded pretty decent.
The original Output tubes were Coke Bottle style 6P3s I think, basically 6L6GC's.
I found some old 6L6 Groove Tubes that really are 1975 Sylvania Tubes.
They were awfully bright compared to the original Coke Bottle tubes, but they seem to have settled down now.
I am unsure if the 6SL7 Tubes need to be GTB Tubes, however, I have tried to make sure that all the 6L6 tubes I have tried are 6L6GC's because this is a fixed bias amp, and I am unsure what voltage the output tubes are running at.
Hi,
I have read that unless 6SN7* is use for vertical deflection on TV applications, then a 6SN7GT (VT-231 ) tube can be substituted for a 6SN7GTA or GTB in audio applications and should not create any problems. So you might want to try VT-231's.

I second your recco. Given ka7niq's predilection for the RCA, I would think an RCA VT231 might really scratch his itch.
