for some reason whenever I put it an RCA preamp tube in place of something else like a Raytheon or Tung-Sol I always thought it sounded 'darker' or creamier if you like.
This was in a Phono preamp using 6sL7 gt's. The smaller (lower) trans conductance of the 6sn7 will minimize any difference but there's only one way to find out system synergy and that's to try both.
Just keep micro-phonics in mind and possible tube howling when you turn everything up.
