"Aspen Pittman never made tubes,..."To the best of my knowledge (and I have some inside information) Aspen did make 6L6s and one small signal tube. He out-sourced the rest from all over.
A friend of mine (a very well off, connected friend of mine) called me to ask my opinion about buying the tooling that made those 6L6s and going into business. This was before Fender got involved.
Understand, I am not say that Aspen made the tube the OP is asking about but Aspen did make 6L6s.

I have the original 4.1th edition book and no where does it mention that they made any tube, just the ability to test and grade them according to what he and the others say are important distinctions for music amplifiers.
If a later edition says so then so be it.

I was a GT dealer before Fender took over, and cut me out.
GT definitely made the "6L6GE", a tube that was an exact copy of the GE 6L6GC from late 60's/early 70's.
They were quite expensive, and sounded great. I did have a few premature failures from them, and quit using them in favor of their 6L6B, which was Russian.

I was a dealer for New Sensor and Mike Mathews who set up all those 'Russian' factories in the 80's. He did a great service to all and after some manufacturing pitfalls made some great tubes.
Looks like it's all a swan song now
