I got an email from Antique Electronic Supply last week and I checked the supply on this tube, which was out of stock when I looked a year or two ago. I had built the Broskie Aikido with these back in 2006 (which I found out when I did a search just now). I still use this pre-amp as my one and only.Anyway they had some and they just came today. They were all GE marked Made in Holland, but unadvertised as such. Does that mean they are all Amperex? My original quad is Amperex Bugle Boys/Orange Globes, 2 of each.
The last time I inquired about these from a private seller, he wanted I think $160 for the quad and I thought that was crazy. These are NOT a popular tube, even with 24v Aikidos going semi-commercial. I just paid 6.60 each, so about $25. I paid even less for my original quad.

I have a quad of EI 6GM8 tubes in my ASL wave-8 amps. They still sound good and test strong but I hardly ever see any on sale.
All of the Dutch made tubes are Amperex. As well Valvo Hamburg made these tubes. The only other manufacturer of these tubes that I'm aware of was Telefunken. All of the US labeled tubes that I've seen are one of these. The original Earmax headphone amp from about 15 or so years ago used two of these tubes. More recently one of the Wavelength DACs use one of these tubes. Every once in a while there is someone in Europe selling NOS NIB quads of Telefunkens on ebay and they can be had reasonably as long as you don't get into a bidding war. There is a Russian equivalent numbered 6N27P but I think these are about as rare as the western European tubes.
Cheers, Steve
When I went on eBay I was surprised by the number available for a low price, with some people asking for ridiculous prices. And yet, as you say, they made in Holland brands are all the same tube. A bugle Boy will command a high price, a GE from the same batch won't get more than $6. I'll take the quad for $6/each.
