I love the focus of the 5751 compared to the fuzzy sounding 12AX7,
The early 1950's Sylvania 3 mica black plates are super - usually JHS version, or as you reference the gold lettered Sylvanias, The Raytheon windmill getters are a close 2nd...great air and extension. The GE 3 mica blackplates are nice too, albeit different sound characteristics, dynamics, speed and clarity. Tung Sols (2 mica gray) are very good as are the 3 mica RCA blackplates. A sleeper are the Syl 3 mica gray plates, very warm, but beautiful in the right system.
