Are these from the 40's or 50's?

If you can get the seller to give you the 3 digit numbers on the glass, this will tell you what you need to know. It appears that one tube is a 1956 vintage, the rest I cant tell. Mu guess is that all are mid 1950s.
I bought them anyway,
It seems I did ok they sound much more refined and more 3-dimensional than my Halo getter TS5687's.
The date codes have worn off all except two, one has the mumber 550 on it?
Where can I get the date codes for future reference?
Well Tung Sol in the 1950s was easy. Your "550" code means 50th week of 1950. With some Tung-Sols, you will have the 322 before the number which is simply the factory code. If memory serves, in the 60s they went to a code like "6236" which would mean 36th week of 1962. Some of this information may be on the web.
As far as I know the only 5687s from the 40's was the Tung Sol ribbed (flat) plate 5687s made from 1949-1952 and those aren't them.(the one on the right)

do you mind explaining what makes those plates "ribbed"? is it the "ladder" in the center of the plate?
and when a plate is referred to as "flat", what part of the plate is flat?
thanks!

Yes, it's the ladder that are called ribs.
Apart from the ribs, the plate structure as a whole is much "flatter, longer rectangle" than the later types that could be viewed as "square" or "rectangle". That would be the part of the plate that "sees" the cathode, looking at a cross section.
