Low noise when warm/hot be about the only requirement, I'm guessing?
'R' duty in an RCLCRC power supply.
Follow Ups:
I get mine here.Excellent prices.
Mouser or Digikey. Use metal film, not carbon type. If voltage exceeds 250 volts across the resistor, use two in series.
Noise isn't an issue in this application. Longevity and power dissipation are the primary concerns. Almost any type WW will work, including the classic sand block (cement) resistors. No reason to spend a bundle on this, I have amps and receivers from the '60s with the original cement resistors working like new.

Been around for many years and not as well known as PCX which does give great service but Handmade has better prices on both Mills and Ohmite Gold.

I second Dan on the wirewound-
I have also seen these perform well over time - Ohmite

Any good 5w wirewound will do what you want. Digikey, Mouser carry a bunch.

From Mouser, come in 5W values, I think. Carbon film.
Sold to audiophiles as Kiwami and available at Parts Connextion so that's what I will do.
I only need six total 5W resistors so ordering from Mauser or DigiKey seems a waste of both of our time and I got a mess of parts for this re-build that i'll be ordering from Parts Connextion anyway so adding 6 more expensive resistors, even at a couple buck each seems fair.
Just to say that Michael Percy is on the US side of the border and ships promptly, whereas Parts Connexion is on the Canadian side, and I have experienced very annoying delays due to customs, when I've ordered parts from PC. Also, no one is faster than Mouser to fill orders and ship. If you are in Canada, all is understood.
The KOA Speers / Kiwames are carbon film. I've used the 2w version a lot. For power resistors I prefer wirewounds.I mostly use Vishay / Dale from Digi-Key unless I have what I need in my junkbox. Digi-Key has a free shipping option which is especially nice on small parts orders where the shipping can often cost more than the parts themselves. I use it on larger orders too, though.

I looked for that free shipping option the last time you posted about it. Couldn't find it then, can't find it now. Do you have a link?

here:
"* When a check or money order accompanies your order, Digi-Key pays all shipping and insurance (our choice for method of shipping) to all addresses in the U.S. and Canada."
That's very cool. I had no idea they did that. Not sure how they can afford it, but certainly worth the extra effort of mailing a check. Thanks!

one thing that occurred to me though
being the cautious type about sharing too much bank info and whatnot ...
I would inquire whether they accept money orders, cashiers or postal checks
regards,
I had no idea either ... we can thank Florida Charlie
all I did was read the link he posted and follow the thread
thanks Charlie!

regards,
There was a time when I paid for nearly everything with a check. It was never a problem, and it's not something I worry about. Sending a check to a company like Digi-Key is absolutely not a problem. :)

I'm not sure if this is for real, because I have got both KOA Speer and Kiwame resistors on hand, and I see no physical difference at all, but the Kiwame's seem to have a higher voltage rating than do the KOA Speer, which caused me to prefer the former in one high voltage application.
back nearly 20 years ago when I built these DIY HIFI Supply 'Billies' 300B SET amps, along with BlackGates caps, etc. Many years ago, I clued Brian Cherry (then owner of DIY HIFI Supply in Hong Kong) into the fact that Kiwami resistors were in fact KOA and MUCH less expensive than what he was paying to some distributor in Japan for the Kiwami brand.
And yes, For the RCLCRC power supply the 'R' part should logically be a 5W wire wound.
As far as ordering from DIGI KEY or Mauser or whatever, I find searching for what I want on their web page to be way too time consuming, and I used to do this for work.

...all those checks dying of loneliness in my desk drawer have a new sense of purpose!
