Always wondered why I had to keep my eyes open to hear the sounstage even in the dark. I always suspected that the eyes are a extremely delicate membrane and quiet possible that they hear the ultra high frequencys. Of coarse that totally absurd right? wrong read this link about another even more far fetched theory about hearing.
So having your amps glowing center of your speakers is important to know where your ears have to point ;)

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. So the worst possible thing would be two vacuum tube mono blocks located near the speakers. :-) Or maybe we could construct a chassis with two of those old green "eye" tubes and place it dead center. Okay, that might be kind of creepy. Would certainly be unnerving for the babysitter.
