RE: making a pure white chassis base.
Anybody have an experience with gluing Melamime face to cut edge? The problem is the surface is very shiny and smooth. I doubt most wood glues would stick to it. OTOH, the edge is basic partical board and easily absorbs glue.
Gorilla glue?
Construction Adhesive?
I do intend to put alumimun angles inside with short screws but I want a bit more rigidity.

Contact adhesive has little shear strength, the joints will creep over time.PAR has it right as the type of glue.
Lots of reasons not to use melamine. It's tough to get it home without scuffing let alone machine, screw holding is poor, as well as impact resistance to edges.
Having said that many shops use it covering the show surfaces with that red paper used to cover hardwood floors during construction and spec'ing very coarse thread fasteners. Every time I used it I swore never again! Black, as shown, is worse for scuffs than white but still no picnic.
Formica is easier than you might think. Cut it with a $9 carbide knife and trim edges with a $15 block plane. See Youtube.

The strongest bond will be a solvent-based contact cement. I keep a bottle of Weldwood around the house for minor repairs, but you'll probably want a can so you can apply it with a roller. If none of this is available where you live, ask your local lumber yard what their contractors use for gluing Formica to countertops.
