I miss you Allen! I don't know why you've left so soon, but somehow, I know it's better there!
You're a good Man, Allen, and I, for one, really got to liking you.
Forum members may wonder why I liked Allen so much.
Allen told it the way he saw it. I like that!
Allen's posts during 2010 would be must reading for me, were I trying to understand this forum-- I would recommend those to all of you-- especially those manufacturers, who, like Allen, gave freely of their time even when a few forum members sought to discredit them.
Read Allen's 2010 posts! This is the best thing that I can think of to remember-- an honest Man.

Shocking and sad news.
When I built my own copy of the RTP3 preamp Allen was enormously helpful, even though I was too skinflint to buy the "official" plans for the project.
I was hoping that sometime I would get to meet Allen in person for a good long chat, but alas this will never happen.
RIP, Allen!
Alex
Really shocked to read this. A major loss for the audio and especially the DIY community. Allen was always very eager to help even the newbiest, although his level of expertise was at a highest level. Many times I had emailed him and he was always willing to answer my questions.
Since 1999, I have built his FVP preamplifier, which I regard one of the best I've heard. I'm also in the process of building his RTP3C balanced preamp. He has contributed with a bunch of novel ideas in the audio field. We sure are going to miss him.
May your soul rest in peace, Allen.

Allen was a man who spoke his mind but was always ready to help others. We are the poorer for his passing tragically at such a young age.
Very sorry to read this and my Condolences to his Fanily and Friends. He was a really generous guy and way too young.
Randy
bright guy, insightful.Known him on and off since the 1970's.
I used two and owned one of his SS Hi-Fi AM mono tuners. Best with his own loop antenna.
Owned one of his first FourValvePreamps aka FVP, I still have the Quad 22 box he built it in. Separate PSU , and both are now much rebuilt.
I also lent him and Joe R. a Leak Stereo 60. Later I swapped it for the two St20s I use now. Gently modified. Allen provided quite a bit of advice on that, too!
Allen was treating listening rooms long before LEDE came along, and he also owned a pair of quite large sphere spkrs from the early period of Audiosphere (Canberra-Australia) production.
Sighhhh!

Very sad. Always enjoyed discussing ideas with him. He was generous with his time and his ideas. He will be missed.
So sorry to hear this news. Prayers going out to his family. What a loss.
Having had a spouse die suddenly I know how painful it is. This is a reminder that we should cherish and live each day like it is our last because we are only given a day at a time.
He will be missed. Allen was a great poster on these forums and a wealth
of knowledge.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Allen's friends and loved ones.
See you in the big tube in the sky.
What sad news. He was so knowledgeable and helpful. I freqently find myself searching through old posts of his. The asylum was so lucky to have him. He will be missed greatly.

This indeed tragic. His tube designs are legendary, especially his preamps. He was very generous with his time and tutored many of us in the basics of vacuum tube audio design.
He will be sorely missed and I do hope his business continues and receives support both from diy clientele and audio enthusiasts as well.
Anand.
Veryu sad news.
He will be missed very much.

In such moments I recommend to all inmates to spare some time and to take a look at this highly emotional speech of Steve Jobs.
In Italy is was so appreciated to be even subtitled.
My condolences to all the people who knew him.

I didnt think he was mortal.
My condolences to his family. He was a kind and generous man.
Hi!
I read this news this morning and was shocked.
I had the pleasure to know Allen personally.
This is a big loss.

Hi Thomas
I still clearly remember August 2002 when Allen took me to this outdoor eating place in Munich, had a big Wiener Schnitzel and a very large beer, then walked to your place (I remember going past this a big church) and went up to your "loft" - Allen had said, you've gotta see this guy's place.
I have a lot of memories.
Joe R.
Hi Joe,
I remember your visit very well!
Hope to meet you again some time. Drop me an email when you are around

who knew him personally.
I definitely think diy audio amongst other things is a worse place now that he has passed.
To infinity and beyond!!!
Terrible news indeed. One of the best and the brightest, and a real gentleman to boot. We will all miss him; the world is a poorer place without his presence.
Damn!

I'll never forget first meeting Allen at one of the VSACs.
His lectures were standing room only!!
RIP Allen.

I'm very saddened to hear this. I didn't know Allen well, but his kind nature and principled viewpoints were always apparent. I certainly regret never having the opportunity to work with him.

Buy Chinese. Bury freedom.
This is indeed heartbreaking. Its been a bad year for losing friends in audio and this is just one more thing to add to a depressive note.My condolences to the family and everyone in the audio community.I use his shunt regulators in my mac C20 and his preamp cookbook by far is one of the best tutors ever written for knowledge of basic audio circuitry.
Diversity of opinions on any one technical subject, almost always causes confusion for the listener.
Peace be with you Allen, your family, and with those who will miss you...
Thanks for your good circuits...
Big Peace,

I remember years ago, when I was pretty much a newbie. I totally messed up a board on a CD player I was trying to mod. He straightened out my mess for very little financial reward.
Not very many would go out of their way to straighten up someone else's mess, especially on a piece they didn't ordinarily work on. I didn't know him personally, but obviously a kind man. Peace be with you Allen, and thanks for the favor.

That's very sad news... my condolences to his family and friends.
that sucks...my condolences
Always willing to share his design expertise, Allen did so with good humor and restraint. I will miss his contribution.

SH*T!!! Our community has taken a tremendous loss. My condolences to his SO and business associates.

Oh boy. Everything in the Universe is going somewhere, a dynamic world has no guarantees.
I'm in shock ... not long ago he asked me to send him the biggest jar of Vegemite I could get my hands on. I'd make light of that request alone if this news wasn't just so terrible! Like or hate some of his opinions he was incredibly talented and man enough to speak his mind.
Naz
oh my god .
what is the h...llll .
he was around here last week i think . really sad .
Thanks for your post to let us know .
Damn - I'm angry!! I want him to be around today, tomorrow, the rest of the week - all the time.
This is so unfair.
andy
My condolences, sadly he was rather young to pass on.
Sad . Nice , kind man . Stewen (Sweden)
