I contacted my Nakamichi repairman and he said he's only doing old Naks. He said he thought there was a Tandberg specialist in the USA, but he didn't have the contact information or name. Anyone know who's reliable and can repair/restore Tandberg tape decks?

Who is your Nak guy and where is he located?

Willy Herrmann fixed my 682ZX. Rebuilt it. Excellent work, but I rarely use it. Got to get at that project (taped a lot of good WCLV Cleveland broadcasts).
WCLV was/is a great station.

Larry and herb (particularly Herb) have a lot of experience with Tandberg over the last 40 or so years.

reelsmith's axiom: Its going to be used equipment when I sell it, so it may as well be used equipment when I buy it.
Believe Soundsmith still services Tandberg
I know, but they charge four times what the job is worth...as usual. Not interested.
..."four times what the job is worth" sounds about right :-)
Sorry, but those decks don't have the best of reputations for staying fixed.
Never had one, so maybe I'm listening to the wrong folks.
Nick in New York was the only certified Tandberg tech around, but he retired a few years ago. There are other techs who may work on these decks, but may decline the job if it needs parts that are unavailable. My Tandberg was fixed about 7 years ago and is still working, though with mixed results at times. Its still my best deck though.
They are fantastic sounding R2R decks. I own one but have been afraid to ask what it would cost to bring it up to stuff! I got it for next to nothing with a bunch of other stuff a long time ago.
