Killer stuff!
I think I got into reel to reel from watching The Man From UNCLE. I've certainly thought about buying one of the tiny Nagras. If I was still a kid, I probably wouldn't be able to resist.

Thanks, IB!
If you have not already done so, please seek out part TWO of this video clip on YouTube. BTW, I once worked next door to a person named Ralph Bertsche on Bush Street in Sf. Ralph was a protege of the famous private eye, Hal Lipset and he developed miniature spy electronic eavesdropping equipment for Hal. Ralph was also, in part, the direct inspiration for the character of Harry Caul, featured in Coppola's movie "The Conversation". Ralph once gave me a box of old 5" tapes, and thought he had bulk erased them. Not so! On the tapes, recorded at 15/16 ips, were conversations between himself and his "ex" about child support. So, Ralph had recorded his conversations with his former wife, while the "ex" had Hal Lipset, tapping the line from the other side. One phone tapper Vs the other, his former mentor, as it were!
Ralph knew all about miniature tape recorder technology, but he also did more amazing things in the world of electronics. Don't you love this stuff?
Thanks
