I have to run about 50' of speaker cable to power a pair of Niles OS 20 outdoor speakers. The cable will not be exposed to the weather other than temperature and humidity. I would appreciate any suggestions on the type of cable, guage, and possibly the brand that I should consider using. Like I say I need 50' pair and would like good sound from the speakers without going crazy spending a fortune.
Unless you're going to put it in conduit, I'd suggest using the thickest gauge outdoor low voltage cable you can find. Ok, shoot me Jon, but the black low voltage wire used for Malibu lights should work and will not be affected by being outside. I'm sure it's not great speaker wire but it should work.
enemies of plastics, including wire jackets. Plastic can also crack if stressed when very cold. Otherwise, depending on your local electrical codes, most wires, especially wire with thick, soft, flexible jackets like 18 or 16 gauge Monster Cable and Radio Shack speaker wire, should do. I would not expect this to be as critical a sound application as a primary audiophile listening system, so good cables gould be a waste, IMHO.
