I had been looking forward to listening to the new Micros for possible use in den and finally got the chance last weekend. Initial impression was WOW! Huge soundstage but detail was lacking. After 5 min. of listening to Jennifer Warnes thru a Classe amp and BAT preamp, I couldn't handle the sound anymore. Both my girlfriend and I found the sound intolerably bright and upfront. Would make a nice HT setup I guess.

I heard these in a HT setup when I was at CES. I was not impressed with the sound.. When you realize they are very small... I guess it makes it sound better... anyways.. for serious listening.. I don't think these will cut it..

Pity. I beleive he gave up making the bigger speakers to concentrate on the micros. His loss.

Unless I hear something official to the contrary, I'll take Anthony and Gary at their word. I don't expect the little Micros to be competitive with their own Nucleus Solo and Reference line, but the very idea of a BOSE-killer speaker system is rather appealing don't you think? :-)
AuPh
Its been a rather long hiatus. Too busy pushing the Bose killers. It isn't going to help the sales of the bigger speakers(which was difficult to start with), if they ever get back to them.
Jack
Supposedly the Solos and References will be back in production by summer as they've stated all along. We'll see.
As far as affecting sales of the bigger speakers, my hope is that there will be a resurgence of interest along with a bit more effort placed in promotion of the larger speakers. Generally the reviews have been outstanding; now the ball is in Gallo's court. Again, we'll see.
AuPh
Sorry... That message number is not valid.
You have my condolences sonny. Maybe you can trade down to a pair of Micros and buy that Llano amp you've been lusting after! ;-) Cheers!

In its recent itteration, yes, but Anthony has something new up his
sleeve that we will probably see about the next CES. Smaller, with
better bass, even better imaging, better dynamics and more attractive -
AND maybe less expensive. Lets see if he can pull off another miracle!

This Gallo nonsense is the same kind of fractured logic that you spew forth every day on rec.audio. No wonder you're one of the most despised retailers in all of audio.
Your double-digit I.Q. leads you to wonderfully brilliant conclusions, ie, this particular Gallo has been discontinued, therefore it must suck. I imagine the late, great Quad ESL 57 also sucks. After all, it's been discontinued for DECADES. And let's not even get INTO Von Schweikert.
You have no credibility. Indeed, you have no ability. You're just a colossal waste of bandwidth.
Cheers.

No need to consider trading in a classic, pops. It's just like Dusenburgs and Locomobiles, they aren't manufactured any more either, but they're still among the finest automobiles ever made. I'm not freting about the future of my speakers; they're designed to last a VERY long time. However, it's disappointing to learn that Gallo Acoustics may also be having trouble making a go of it. Kind of makes one wonder about the rumours circulating in regard to dwindling high-end sales in general.

Are you aware of the real ownership, and whos calling the shots?
Hint, he does not have the words Gallo in his name.
This is a company on shaky ground. If successful, they may be more like PSB than like Dunlavy in their level of product offerings. But the good news is that at least they will have a dealer network.
I contacted Gary Pelled a couple of weeks ago after receiving a "Gallo Club" e-mailing on a matter concerning certain omissions from their dealer finder page. When he e-mailed back there was no mention of the ownership changing hands or the company being in distress of any kind. As a matter of fact he responded as if all things were finally approaching a level of normality now that the Micros were being marketed.
So what gives? If you have some insider knowledge or have possession of information myself and others (i.e. particularly Gallo owners) aren't privy to, please share it. Accurate info is always appreciated.

If you haven't figured it out, since HiFi 98 last year I have been watching a few companies in case they went IPO and were a hit. Gallo and Tact were ones that I had followed. Gallo because they did look like they would be Bose killers, but performance and delays since then have soured me on them. I have dropped the research on them near the end of 98 and don't really care anymore, but you go on and on about how great they are, but you don't seem to know more than that in what they feed you.
They are not the same company you bought your units from, by both focus and direction. They have a chunk of change to make back. The only way A Gallo will be doing new stuff is to bouy the Gallo name as a "recogniseable hi-end manufacturer" to the masses. Maybe Bose isn't kilt yet.
I don't recall ever "going on and on" about how great the Micros are. I'll be the first to admit that I know very little about this new line. As a matter of fact I shudder when the name BOSE is mentioned in comparison with a fine high-performance manufacturer like Gallo Acoustics, but I was hoping that the HT line might be enough of a hit to help support the Nucleus series speakers. I do have more than a passing interest in keeping up with what's going on with Gallo Acoustics, but my pursuit of information is limited by the amount of available time I have to devote to this hobby.
AuPh
but still a weak shift of subject.
> I don't recall ever "going on and on" about how great the Micros are.
We were talking about the company not a specific model, had you forgot?
Just drop it, I plan to.

Yet another mutation of his ever changing solos/references? It would be nice if he actually stuck with something for 2 years in a row. FWIW, his miracles have been minor at best.

PS. Try to resist the urge for sales pitches here-this isn't RAO
Too bad ... hope its sounds better than bose 'jewels'.
