Hi all,
I am wondering if anyone could explain to me how to remove the grill from the midrange/woofer driver on the GMA Eos HD speakers. Do you just pop the gold ring off with a screwdriver or something? Is it easy to reattach? My grills have a good amount of dust and I'd like to take them off to give them a good cleaning, but I don't want to damage my speakers just to satisfy my OCD :-D
Thanks,
Chris
Follow Ups:
There's a beat up pair on eBay if you scroll through the pics all the way to the end it might give you an idea of the construction. Also, some of the other ads I came across mention they sound better with the grills off. (Sorry if that just put a bug in your ear!)
Unfortunately no info on whether they are easily removable. The grills look pretty rough in the ad where they are shown on their own. Was this due to the removing process?
I gather there is no info in the manual.
Cheers!

Thanks! That's what I was afraid of. It seems once they come off, I'll have to get new grill fabric to reinstall and cut to fit.
I can't believe someone bought those battered things for parts and paid over $1K :-O

That was actually an older listing that included a pic of the grills on their own. I think the ad just ended or was taken off. Though I guess vs what they originally sold for retail, the seller gave it a shot selling "as is".
The link below is for the same pair, but apparently working ok now. Price has gone up. No separate pic of the grill though. That's why I thought the older ad would be more physically descriptive.
Those look like very fine speakers from what I've read. Very interesting construction. Lots of research went into them. Won some awards too. Nice!

Thanks so much for your help, Jonesy! That picture was truly worth a thousand words :-) The gril ring just pops off with a flathead screwdriver and the grill foam pulls out. Then to replace, you just use a flathead screwdriver to push the edge of the foam back into a groove Roy created around the driver and then pop the ring back on. This also enabled me to install Bybee Quantum clarifiers on the back/magnet of the midrange drivers (wow; these things are no joke!), so it was a very successful endeavor. The Eos HDs were amazing to start with, but with the Bybees, these things are almost spooky they are so lifelike.
Thanks again,
Chris
Nice! I'm glad it worked out.
Thanks for sharing your experience with Bybee. I've always been intrigued by their product, but have yet to try.
Cheers!

Bet they named it Chip.
