Ok guys! What speakers do you know of that are meant to or be tolerant of without major compromise against-the wall placement (or say within 6-12"). Not necessarily mounted on the wall.I can think of some of the Klipsch offerings:
Klipschorns
Cornwall
HeresyAlso
Larsen
Gradient Revolution & Helsinkianyone else?

A few other speakers specifically designed to be positioned close to walls include the Gradient 6.0 (http://www.gradient.fi/Gradient/6.0.html), the Guru Junior and Q10 (http://guruaudio.com/, though I don't know whether they currently have US distribution, either), and Direct Acoustics Silent Speakers (http://directacoustics.com/?page_id=16).
Speakers with cardioid radiation patterns are much more tolerant of near-boundary placement. Examples besides the Gradient Revolutions include the soon-to-be-discontinued Evidence (http://www.gradient.fi/Gradient/Evidence.html), the as yet unavailable in the US but amazingly measuring Dutch & Dutch 8C (which should have a "boundary" setting according to the manual). Another technically interesting speaker with controlled radiation pattern and boundary adjustment is the Kii Three (http://kiiaudio.com/en/prod-life.html).
Magnepan offers three models that are designed to be hung on the wall. (Though you will need either a DWM or a subwoofer with them.) They are the models MC1, MMC2, high are motorized and come out to a pre determined distance when the system is powered on. They also have the MMGW which is the low end model. (Basically a full range planar speaker) these are the MC1 speakers. the other two magnepan models look similar.
How about these 2'x4'x6" domino wall speakers designed by Paul Joppa? They have the 4" fostex sol driver enabled by planet10 in a sealed enclosure. This is supported by 4x4" mcm woofers all individually ported. I am in NYC area if you want to try them....
My new AN E speakers will do the trick. Designed to be placed in the room corners. (Poplar Burl Finish)Photo is from audiofederation

The VR-33 from Von Scheikert was designed with the wall in mind :)
Verity Audio makes Tamino V and H versions meant for HT setup and also as a two channel. I have them and they are OK for what they are except slightly tipped up HF. Expensive at $2k a piece. Well , still the cheapest speaker coming out of the house of Verity Audio.
Many moons ago I had Allison one's that were made for against the wall placement!
Audio Note/Snell C
Thiel had a bookshelf speaker that worked best IN A BOOKSHELF....
Some Shahainians benefit - I have Elfs and they like being within a foot of the rear wall-
The big JBL speakers like the Hartsfield and Paragon
Happy Listening
ESP Speakers. They like being near walls, preferably near a corner.
I have my Bodhrans (for HT) about 12" or so from the corners. It helps the bass, and they have side firing tweeters meant for that position.
