Many at this Audio Show thought these speakers were the very best sounding speakers at the whole show!..
Follow Ups:
ELAC's first two lines of inexpensive speakers were impressive in addition to being low priced, these more expensive line was not as impressive.
Far from the best in my opinion, Volti Audio Rival won that for me.
Good waveguide speaker -with a dome driver handling a big chunk of the midrange.More and more are doing this, following in the Tannoy tradition. Then the passive-radiator -not new either. Jones and crew are just doing a better job than others, in the past.

In the end, best of show, best of anything means very little, only yourself if you think so. Still, nice to see/hear some of the more reasonably(?) priced items get some press, FWIW.
Yes, we all hear things differently so we just have to wait and see if our ears like them too .
I hear marketing.
"Yes, we all hear things differently so we just have to wait and see if our ears like them too ."
That's a crock.
That is one of the usual excuses. Has been for many decades.
The vast majority of people hear things pretty much the same. That's how we've been able to develop medical parameters for "normal" and "abnormal" characteristics of human hearing.
Whether or not a particular person prefers one sound over another is typically personal preference, not because they hear something differently.
:)
That is a very literal interpretation. :)
To my mind, the poster was referring to personal preference, not significant physiological hearing differences. Why would I think that? Context. This is not a medical forum - lay-language was in use.

I'd have to disagree. The post which I quoted was a one-line post. He made a flat-out incorrect statement. This is the sort of thing which leads less knowledgeable readers down a wrong path to learning. Tincup himself might be a product of that, and is simply repeating what he's "learned". I don't know. But I do know that the statement is misleading. Here's an example: Have someone play a trumpet, and record it while the "test subjects" are in the room. Then, play back the recording through what decent speakers are available, and have the listeners write down their thoughts on the DIFFERENCES between the "live vs recorded" sounds. Instrument vs loudspeaker, and room acoustics will play their roles, but everyone has the same reference point. You will find general agreement on overall character differences.
If we all hear differently, it would be impossible for an orchestra to play together! Conductor: "We need less 2nd trumpet." 1st violin player: "It sounds fine." LOL
It's PERSONAL PREFERENCE, not "hearing differently".
We all have a reference point for a sound: The actual original live acoustic sound. Differences between that and a loudspeaker reproduction of it should be, as I said, in general agreement among the listeners.
:)

I was thinking that these speakers would be cheaper. You know, the cheap speaker that sounds like something expensive.
At $5000 for the floor standing model, I think it should sound good and would be comparable with many speakers in that price range.
I think the standmount would be the harder sell. The Uni-fi UB5 at $500 might be a "steal" but the Adante at $2400 might be harder to swallow. Even for the fans.

I was thinking that these speakers would be cheaper. You know, the cheap speaker that sounds like something expensive.
But that's what the Debut line is for.
The Adante is their new midrange hi-fi line. With more budget to work with, it should be a good step up in performance from the Debut.
I agree that the floorstander is priced right where the presumed competition is (Kef R, Revel Performa3, Dynaudio Excite, etc.) and the standmounter is priced a little bit higher than it's presumed competitors, but not so high that it would be out of the running.
I think if there is any issue, is that the Adante line is not really 'special'. These are properly designed, well built speakers that are priced to cover the costs of the quality build. Being designed by Andrew Jone, most will automatically say the Adante line sounds better then speakers costing 3x as much.
The perceived issue for me is that at the price, the Adante's can be awesome, but really anything at this price range can be awesome, and the sound comes down to the design philosophy.
I think the Adante line will indeed sound good to awesome, but it will come down to preferred listening tastes.
Of course there is the public perception of Andrew Jones building price beating speakers. This will make them popular, and I think that is GREAT because the more the average audiophile WANTS a $5000 speaker, the better it is for ALL audiophiles.
Yay Adante! :)

You have a good point. Because AJ is the designer and the prices are in audiophile territory, expectations will be MUCH higher than they were for the Debut. Given the well-engineered competition, it will be harder for the Adante line to stand out.
These speakers just might be the speakers we have all been waiting for to come on the market! Review below..he liked these speakers the Best at the show too!
Aren't they totally different design concepts? A sealed box with a ported box inside? Strange. Don't know how it sounds. Need descriptions from those who heard.
Bill
Its a bandpass design ( less Xover complexity and cost) with a passive radiator, its not sealed , the bass driver is ported to the bandpass chamber and to make sure cavity noise is reduced even further ,they use a passive radiator instead of a vent ...

Thanks. Appreciate.

I read your linked review. The reviewer was impressed, and some other guy who he mentioned. That's two guys.Unless I missed something, I hardly think that rises to your thread title:
"Many at the 2017 LA Audio Show pick the New ELAC Adante AF-61 Speakers the Best Sounding at the Show!"
What did I miss?

What you didn't miss is a chance to attack someone. All the guy wanted to do was start a discussion. You an those like you here at AA is the reason the forums are so slow. Who wants to start threads just to leave yourself open to attack?
Jones was showing the 2500.00 Elac at Axpona. I wasn't as impressed with it at $2500.00 as I was with the lower priced line at their respective price. They were proud of using beryllium, however, they just didn't seem to be as balanced. Keep in mind the show atmosphere and only the one listen wen weighing my comment.

**********************************************************************
The last paragraph of the review contains the following sentence:
"... In fact, many attendees I spoke with said it was the best sound they heard at the show-and it was among the least expensive systems being demonstrated!..."
A sentence in the LAST paragraph? Really?! THAT'S what we're supposed to get from the review?
The OP here chooses a sentence from THE LAST PARAGRAPH as the title of the thread?
"A sentence in the LAST paragraph? Really?! THAT'S what we're supposed to get from the review?"
No. Those are your words, not mine. I merely pointed out via what was in the article that it was not two guys alone that liked the speaker.
"The OP here chooses a sentence from THE LAST PARAGRAPH as the title of the thread?"
Yes. I don't know why. And I don't see the OP chiming in with the reason.
👹
Most i have seen , gave BOS, to the VAC/VR11 room, but being audio this kind of discrepancy is Par for the course ...
Lol :)
One person went to the LA Show just to listen to the Magico S3's but after listening to the Elac Adante af-61's for more than a hour he now knows the Elac's are the ones he will buy!..
🤣
?
Wow!
Another person went to hear the Wilson speakers, and loved them.
