...frequency range of music fundamentals and nominally audible harmonics, most agree that we have 3 octaves of bass (20Hz - 160Hz), 4 octaves of midrange (160Hz - 2560Hz), and 3 octaves of treble (2560Hz - 20480HZ).
Each of these general bands can be further divided, but this 3/4/3-octave split is well accepted.
Hence, from bottom to top, 'bass' ends around 160Hz where midrange (and more specifically, lower-midrange) begins, and, continuing upward, MR ends and lower treble begins around 2.5KHz.
