Awhile ago, I sold my Altec Lansing Model 19s, which was a BIG mistake. For about a year, I have been the victim of seller's remorse and trying to find another pair.
Yesterday, I scored a beautiful pair...one owner...all factory original components...in very good cosmetic condition for thirty-five year old speakers (born in 1977.) I attach a photo of the pair just after getting them in the house this morning. I have the grilles too.
They sound every bit as good as my original pair and are in better-looking condition. I am in heaven!
This may qualify as my most insane audio score--including as it did a 17.5 hour road trip to pick them up! But, after all, this IS an "asylum" isn't it?
I am thrilled!
Enjoy your music!
George

With such a piece of Audio Art, sellers' remorse cannot end; it has only been transferred to the guy who sold it to you.
Cheers

Nice but 17 hour drive? You must of missed them.
Wow , do those things bring back memories.

I haven't heard Altec 19s for many years, but they played all my test records at the time with flying colors. Great image, with a very smooth response if adjusted properly.

I've never heard your Altecs, however, I have recently heard a University speaker system with a horn tweeter and bass reflex woofer, and was amazed at how good the thing sounded. I'm sure you have a winner as well.
I'd love to hear whay they could do when driven by today's electronics.
That's terrific. They look great.
I've wanted a pair of 19's ever since I was a kid but could never afford them. Ironically, now that I can afford a pair I've nowhere near the space that they require.
Enjoy.

Actually, they don't need that much space. My dealer at the time told me that most of the people who bought them lived in apartments. They liked them because they had great detail at low levels.

I can certainly confirm that. Model 19s are very sensitive and very clean. The low-volume detail they can retrieve is astonishing. This is not a speaker that has to be driven to fairly loud volumes to "wake up".
