I'm currently running a pair of Paradigm Studio 100/v.2 with a Classe CA2200 power amp and a McIntosh C2200 tubed preamp. The amp and preamp are recent upgrades and cost significantly more than the speakers. As such, I'm hoping to get some insight from fellow inmates vis-a-vis a potential speaker upgrade in the up to $6,000/- range. The following lines are available in my area and I would have to choose from amongst these, i.e. Paradigm, B&W, Revel, KEF, Dynaudio, Canton and Jamo. I have a large room (30'x20'), like my bass and listen mostly to rock. Any suggestion to narrow down my audition list are very welcome.
Follow Ups:
I use a pair of Dynaudio Contour 1.3 MkII's in my secondary system, and I've always been impressed by them. Unless things have changed, Dynaudios are generally regarded as well-made with high power-handling capability, not usually very efficient (meaning you need some high quality, high power to make them sing), and fairly neutral with some of the nicest silk-domed tweeters around.
IME, and others', you need to play them somewhat loudly to get the best out of them--they can be bettered for low-level listening. I consider them well-suited to rock. You should definitely look into them. Like I said, I built a second system around mine because I couldn't bear to get rid of them. They strike me as a high-quality product.

P.S. The older Contours were made with a box-in-box construction that most agree positively affected their sound. I'm not sure what Dynaudio lines use this construction style these days, but you should inquire about construction if you look into them.
After a five-year love affair w/ Vandersteen 3A Sigs, I've ordered a pair of Paradigm Signature S8's to replace them in my 16 X 17" room.
To my ears, the Paradigm S8 v.2's offer all the refinement of the Vandersteens (e.g., smoothness, life-like tonality, etc..) but with a great deal more dynamic impact and extension. ..And not a trace of the fatiquing highs that some have accussed Paradigms of having.
..Granted, the Paradigm name isn't one that confers "elite audiophile" upon it's owners the way other, rarer, names might, but it's a great company whose large scale success allow them to make tremendous speakers that punch way above their weight class. If you haven't listened to the Sigs, I urge you to give them a try.
Time to step up to the real world- Magnepan. You have the ideal room size. Add one or two powered subs. When you play a live rock concert you will feel transported. Check out the Planar forum here.

Do you like the sound of your Paradigms? If so, maybe you want to look at the Signature S8s. A more refined sound than your very good Studio 100s (I'm running V.3s right now till I sort out the same situation you're in) along with the same bass.
If not then look at the B&W, Kef and Dynaudio.
Good luck.

It sounds like English, but I can't understand a word you're saying.
For your size room and tastes you are a perfect candidate for the Von Schweikert VR4 Sr. You can get the MK1 version in your price range. The MK 2 is a little bit more. They do all styles well but if you want to rock in a big room they handle high spls with zero strain. If you can seek them out you will probably be very happy. Blessings, Bob
UM..hummm, built in subs with EQ and they image like a mutha. Good luck!
I heard these once and they absolutely AMAZED ME.
Oh, yes.
A large pair of Tannoy's would fill that room nicely.
