Wondering what people are using for amps with their Vandersteens. Opinions, insights, caveats, etc., for smaller room, possibly 1C in the offing.
Follow Ups:
I use Quicksilver mini monos through a Audible IIlusions Modulas 3 into 1cs. I am very happy with it.
Jolida 801a integrated tube amp. 70watts push/pull. I think it sounds great with my 15-year old Vandy 2Cs.
Not sure if this counts or not, as I have 3A sigs.I have a Bryston 3BSST Amp, and a Bryston BP25 preamp. ..Couldn't be happier.
Classe CA-100 driven by Audible Illusions Mod 3
"If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving's probably not for you".
I have the 2c's with Hafler DH-200 amp and Conrad Johnson PV-5 pre.
I have been very pleased with the pair of the VTL TT-25 amps I am using to drive my Vandersteen 1C's.
Over the last few years I've used the following with my 1C's: NAD C370, Jolida 1501A, Rotel seperates, and currently a vintage Marantz 2270...the Rotel was my least favorite, the current Marantz sounds just fantastic...tube smooth, but with bass authority...really, these are an easy match and sound good with almost anything...I suppliment mine with a sub crossed at 40hz...love em
If you come across a Berning EA-230 buy it! It's the best sounding amp I have ever heard on Vandersteen's.
Are you thinking seperates or an integrated amp? Tubes or solid state? I've used my 1B Vandersteens with an Adcom 535, Counterpoint SA12 and Anthem Amp 1. The Anthem is a 40 watt tube amp and drove the Vandies just fine.
