"Lummy," complains one of my audiophile friends, "No love for 1982?"
In September 1982, my entry into middle school was Steel Breeze's "You Don't Want Me Anymore." The '82 Oakland A's were terrible, but we got to celebrate Rickey Henderson stealing 130 bases. Sports broadcasts used to play the instrumental portions of "You Don't Want Me Anymore." And one of my classmates actually played the riffs on a kazoo.
Indeed, this is a song people ask about, but cannot identify. Many of my old classmates have searched a lifetime for it. They try singing the instrumental parts, in hopes that someone will recognize and ID the song. Well, here it is.

Follow Ups:
Sophomore year for me - had the 45 and played it into the ground. I was just learning to play guitar and loved the guitar solo as well.
IIRC these guys took all the money the had, maybe even borrowed or did second mortgage, etc. to cover the cost of their demo recording prior to getting signed. Please correct my thinking if my recall is incorrect.
Thanks for posting : )
