Produced by T Bone Burnett, numerous interesting artists provide songs. Reviews i've read are positive but do not mention production quality - no surprise there. Anyone have an opinion?

...gave it 3 stars and pointed out some pretty good stuff on it.
by the lineup on this soundtrack. While not specifically for kids, the books (and presumably the movie) is "youth oriented". While I hadn't really given it much thought, I figured the soundtrack would follow suit.
Yesterday my 14-yr-old son came to me and said "hey - you like the Punch Brothers, right? They've got a song on the Hunger Games soundtrack, along with Kid Cudi" (he's a Kid Cudi fan). I was really surprised!
I think this is great! Some really good artists are on there who will get some decent exposure they may not have otherwise. Carolina Chocolate Drops and Punch Bros in particular, though Neko Case & The Decemberists will get wider exposure as well (though neither are particularly "unknown"). By the same token, folks who know 'the drops' and related music will get exposure to Kid Cudi (though his song isn't necessarily representative of his typical style), Maroon 5, etc. they might not otherwise pay attention to. Win - Win.
