Are the Black keys the best Rock group on the Planet?
I haven't gotten into a rock group in years. Maybe since Red Hot Chili Peppers years ago.
Besides the music, I love their snarly attitude and confidence... We're good and we know it.
Follow Ups:
I'm not sure about them being the best on the planet, but I DO really like El Camino ! One way I end up selecting my favorite artists is whether something they record sticks in the "happy" part of my brain, the very first time I hear it, and just will NOT go away. That's what happened when I first heard heard El Camino and, especially, "Gold on the Ceiling."
I've probably listened to this CD 20-30 times in the past few months. Whenever I come across something that I like this much, I'm really glad that the digital format let's me cue it up again and again and again and again without any wear and tear on the recording. Of course, every loud song I ingest kills off another handful of my few remaining brain cells! But, there's a lot of worse ways to lose your mortality, right?
Keep listening and keep smilin',
Kev
I love the Black Keys but I prefer their earlier albums. Which albums of theirs do you know?
Besides a few songs on the radio and Austin City Limits, the only album I know is El Camino which is really growing on me.
I want more!
El Camino is their only album I don't have yet. My suggestion: Start with their early albums and work forward. They don't have that many releases so you can do that quite quickly.
This is a good one, too.
It sounds like they are channeling Muddy Waters but with a youthful punk/garage sound.
Their recordings sound raw and un-produced... very refreshing.
Yeah, lot of copped Muddy lines. All they need is a little slide work...
Somehow this band has eluded me. I'd heard their name, but not their music. Since it's available on vinyl, it's a done deal.
Thanks
After watching part of the Super Bowl halftime show last year, I'd say they're the most-overrated pop act on the planet........ And maybe in history.......... A bunch of hacks reconstituted with technological enhancements..........
either showing your age or lack of musical adventurism :)
Check out Rubber Factory & Brothers first! If you like blues rock, you'll dig the Keys.
I agree with you whole hardheartedly.... Fergie is hot though.
The "Keys" are about the most opposite end of the spectrum you can get from the "Peas".
I'll check out the Black Keys......... I need some new material.
Your thinking of the black eyed peas. The blak keys do rock.
