Hi Timbo!
I use a 40W/ch, integrated, SET amp with 105dB sensitive speakers! I couldn't stand being anywhere in my home if my volume control was at the two O'clock position. From what I've noticed, depending on the level of volume of the actual recording itself, I listen from the nine O'clock position to the 12 noon position max! With the vast majority of listening occurring between the 10 to 11 O'clock positions!

I found, by accident, that gain problems can go away with a USB Dac.
