First impressions are lasting. In music it is that 1st transient or ictus of the sound that (for me) forms the basis for the ultimate sound/music value judgement. 36 has better sound all around (bass to highs) but it is those transients that are greatly improved. Yes, to me, it reminds of cplay 34 but I have made a lot of changes in the isolation of my system so I can't with any accuracy say if 36 is better than 34 or vice versa but 36 is the best I have heard period.Another area of improvement (maybe another manifestation of the above) is soundstaging. I hear around instruments better in large ensembles. More air, more spacing of instruments, less running together.
Voices are also better. I have an acoustic album of blues by Buddy Guy & Junior Wells titled Alone and Acoustic on which the voices are superb but now better on 36. These 2 are not great singers (Wells is better than Guy) but wow they CAN play their instruments. Just amazing.
I have several sax pieces by Bennie Maupin and Brandford Marsalis and their instruments now sound more like like real saxes in real space. I can listen louder w/o the anoyances of those little burrs on their otherwise smooth sounding instruments.
Bass is now stronger with 36 almost as if I have done more work on improving the acoustic isolation in my hardware system.
First impressions are lasting and my first impressions of cplay36 are all positive.
PS Please keep going to those live music events.
