Pretty much each day I have to restart squeezelite on my RPi running 8.2 PiCore Player in order to play music. I say pretty much since sometimes it works just fine. I'd say it doesn't work 5 out of 7 days each week.
Setup is LMS running on a Win10 PC with wired ethernet. RPi running latest PiCore Player with USB out to Denifrips Pontus II (always powered on) and wired ethernet also.
I shut the Win10 PC running LMS down each evening. After powering it up the next day LMS starts at boot as normal and then almost always after launching the web control interface and selecting something to play (doesn't seem to matter if it's a local file, Qobuz, or Radio Paradise) the player does nothing. To get it playing I need to remote into the PCP and restart squeezelite.
PCP setting is USB audio.
Any idea what may be going on? I've changed the output device setting to a variety of the recommended devices in the interface list but none of them seems to solve the restart issue.

Follow Ups:
Thanks to the good folks over at the Logitech Squeezebox forums I believe I have solved my problem. Adding -C 5 to the PcP output setting has resulted in trouble free connections for the past week. I have another player to test and will get to that soon.
Thanks for all the suggestions here.

why not also power down the player?
Since my RPi uses a battery, I always power it down when done. Never had to reset Squeezelite.
Even when an extended power failure causes a reboot to the server which is normally up 24/7.
Hmmm. I may try that.

...you might ask over at forums.slimdevices.com. The developers of PCP are regulars on the Linux/Unit subforum.

I'll give that a try. Thanks.

Run LMS off of the Rpi and quit using the PC and I'll bet your problems go away.
I've got a separate Rpi running LMS and about 10 other RPies running Squeezelite.... No problems. And I never shut down LMS except for Upgrades of Pluggins and such... Which is rare...
I would but local files are on an internal HD on the PC, plus PC has backup system for those local files all configured. I don't want to move my library over to the Pi.
Maybe there's a way to link to the library via a network share or something?
When I setup PCP initially I installed LMS but it's not running on the Pi -at least I don't think it is. Maybe that would interfere with another LMS instance. I'll need to double check that when I get home.
I thought maybe there was some other setting I was missing. There's very little that I could find on the net about similar trouble even when folks run a searate instance of LMS on a PC.

Get rid of the PC and get a 2 Bay NAS for Music Storage.... Then run LMS on the RPie.... Ideally a Separate RPi for LMS...
This is not that expensive in the Audio World....
There is too much going on with a PC.
As proof here is my Travel Rpi Setup... Boss Dac on top of Rpi, USB Drive with over 5,000 Albums... LMS and Squeeze-lite running on the Rpi. Had it running in St. Lucia this winter for 3 months straight... Never a Burp...
I still think it would be cool if you ran a tiny USB Thumb Drive in place of your external HDD. ;-)

Maybe not quite as small, but small enough.
Yup it's small, and if I needed one, I'd probably buy it.... But my Current one is smaller than a deck of cards and works fine.... But if they manage to get a 2TB one in the size that Abe linked to, I'd have to go for it.
