Just received my A18 last week. Everything seems to be working fine except for a quirk with the USB. If I put my PC (WIN 10) into sleep mode the A18 disappears from the list of audio devices. I then need to power it off/on or re-plug the USB cable. Since there is no power switch on the front or on the remote, I have to get behind the rack to do this. A PITA.
Anyone else with a A18 have this issue?
Follow Ups:
Win 10 has a power related USB setting called "selective USB suspend".
You might try disabling it in power settings, and see if that prevents the
issue you are having when you put the machine into sleep mode.
If art interprets our dreams, the computer executes them in the guise of programs!
Thanks LtMandella,
I tried changing the settings with now difference. I have a second USB DAC on this PC. That DAC has no problem with sleep mode. Seems to be an issue only with the Gustard.
I thing Abe's got it right. In fact, the folks at Schiit recommend leaving their DAC's powered on, and pot the power switch on the back of the unit as if to emphasize the point.
Also, you never have to wait for the PC to power back on and reconnect. :)
I'm not as familiar with Windows these days as I am with Mac. I've had similar issues in the past on an older Mac Mini. Since the Mac Mini consumes such little power, I would never let it go into sleep mode, and I would leave my DAC powered ON. Is this a viable workaround with your PC setup? Just never let it go into sleep mode?
Thanks Abe, I may end up doing just that. I sent a note to Shenzhen Audio also. If they have a fix I will post it here.
