How did you set it up?I downloaded the latest build of LMS for Mac today. Installed it, scanned my library, and ran it.
Loaded and started Squeezelite on the uRendu. And I'm using iPeng 9 on the iPad to control it all.
Yes, it works but its a bit clunky so I'm wondering if I might be doing something not quite right. For example, if I start Squeezelite on the uRendu, iPeng on the iPad 'sees' it and I can control my library and playback streamed thru the uRendu. However, it will sometimes disconnect and iPeng longer 'sees' the uRendu so I have to restart Squeezelite.
Also, iPeng 9 is displaying album art for only about 75% of my albums where iTunes shows about 95%. Roon displays album art (along with other metadata) for about 99.9% of my music.

I used to have these issues of the iOS player app disconnecting and not seeing the player when using either iPeng or Logitech's own controller app with a Squeezebox Touch. So I guess things haven't changed.
I was running a wireless connection though. Not sure if wired is different.
Are you still using Roon?
I'm playing with the Squeezepad iOS app to access / control LMS via my iPad. I find it to be much better than iPeng but still lacking. Yes, my main go-to player is still Roon.... with the Roon App on my iPad.

"Clunky" !?!?
As with all new systems you need to get to know it. 1000s of people are running this extremely stable platform since years.
A huge number of commercial streaming systems meanwhile make use of it.
It's a complex platform with 100s of options to shape it. And in case of questions the main squeezebox forum is the place to go!!!

75% of your album art? Hmmh.
As long as I have a "folder.jpg" or "cover.jpg" readable for user "squeezeboxserver" in the album folder I hit a 100% coverage.
Of course when shaping my collection (years back) I made sure that
these files got there - if missing.
I also made sure that my tags were consistent.
That work has to be done once.

You IMO can run the nightly build LMS versions.
I'm running these since years. Usually these are IMO more stable (bugfixes/enhancements) then the stable versions.

I also turn off pretty much all plugins.

Make sure you have your filetypes properly set under advanced settings.
By default pretty much all conversions are "on".
You might end up with mp3 conversions on your apple lossless or flacs.
I usually just use PCM as target format. All others formats are disabled.
Of course you can run native if your streamer supports it.

few problems initially, but they were mine.
Once I got everything set up correctly, the app sees the Pi and the uRendu and LMS sees all of my stuff on iTunes, TIDAL, QOBUZ plus the USB stick in the Mac Mini LMS runs on.
Prefer LMS on the MacBook Air browser just because it bigger than the iPad mini.
That's what I've done from day one with it and the RPi.
However, it will sometimes disconnect and iPeng longer 'sees' the uRendu so I have to restart Squeezelite.
Appears to be a network issue.
Also, iPeng 9 is displaying album art for only about 75% of my albums where iTunes shows about 95%.
There are settings that govern how that is done. I have the server "pre-cache" the artwork. It is also where I enable other performance tweaks. That is found in Advanced Settings:
I say Hmmm? to network issues because the same hardware and network setup using Roon/Roon App instead of LMS/iPeng has been 100% reliable. Hmmm.
I'll try Advanced Settings for tweaking album art and other parameters. Thanks.
Clearly, we are using different builds since I run the Win version. Cannot speak for yours.
The only time I've had devices "disappear" is when a battery power supply fails. I've never had to reset Squeezelite on the uRendu once it was configured.
