How much filter capacitance is found and whether or not it could be increased in that case.
I doubt it comes anywhere close to the 60 farad stiffness of the Uptone LPS-1 which may account for a different sensitivity to the lower inductance of the star quad cable.
At any rate, the Jameco does pretty well for $15!
Follow Ups:
OK, perhaps I'm not seeing (hearing) a WORLD of difference here, just thought that the iFI iPower $50 wall wart was a bit better than the $12 Jameco with the stock cheap cable.
With the new Star Quad cable (1 meter) instead of the nearly 6 foot thin wire, the Jameco seems to equal the iFI.
Seem to recall that John Swenson heard a big difference with the Star Quad cable compared to the stock cable on the Uptone Ultracap LPS1?
Have a friend who went for an aftermarket cable for the LPS1 as well and said it made a HUGE difference, and that he wasn't at all impressed with the LPS-1 until he went with a rather expensive aftermarket DC cable.
Eventually, I'll likely go with a uRendu and LPS-1, that's if I stay with LMS for my living room DAC/Headphone amp station. Then move the Pi to the bedroom.
Another confounding factor is that I have a new headphone (Kennerton Vali) in the system which is quite a nice upgrade from my old reference, 10 year old Senn HD-600. Too many changes at once can confuse there old ears.
It was following Swenson's report that I did the same thing and likewise found a nice improvement in dynamics replacing the original 18" cable with an equal length of star quad.
