I listened to the hype here regarding RP3, lots of people are right (actually everyone here is right), now I'm all done.
HiFi Berry Digi+ Pro, and IFI power supply (I'll put a link below), settled on Rune Audio 0.4 beta. I'm done now.

I had that power supply, but returned it because the Pi started to give me low power warnings after a few days of use. Any chance you could hook it up to a display to confirm that yours is not doing that?
Had to send my iffy iFI back because there was a rattling noise inside. A cheap wall wart from Amazon did the trick for me.
Different strokes I guess. I noticed a huge difference between the wall wart, the LPS, and the IFI. I found it pretty much unlistenable with the wall wart after hearing the much lower noise floor of the IFI and LPS.
Might also depend on the wall wart. The replacement iFi worked fine but was nothing special compared to the $10 wall wart I bought off Amazon. This was on my microRendu that has excellent internal regulation and power distribution.

I don't have a spare monitor to hook up to the RP to see if I am getting a low power warning.
I did buy directly from IFI, hopefully I got one that was part of a good batch with this one. Remember even iPhones have problems the first couple of batches.
You seriously don't own a TV that accepts HDMI?

I read books and listen to music mostly.
That does not mean that I try every single tweak that comes down the line. If something is worth considering, it will develop a 'following' gradually over time. If it's got 'legs', eventually I'll give it try.

So far with the RPi, I like a beefy Jockery mobile phone charger that lasts about ten hours. Which means I can use it for several days before recharging. The sound seems quieter and cleaner at the top than using an inexpensive Jameco linear.
Have an Uptone LPS-1 on order primarily for the uRendu, but it also supports 5V so might as well try it out with the RPi. With the HDPlex available, I might try that powering both my Cisco router and Motorola cable modem since it has two separate power rails.
Ordered the one pictured above for about $65.
Not too sure exactly how the two different outputs differ (OK, other than the connector) or if the USB socket is also 2.5A or is less(guessing less)?
Anyway, plenty of adapters on eBay so I'll figure out something.
That(Jay's Audio-LOL) was my first attempt at a linear power. Not sure about your unit, but mine was rated at 2.1A, I got constant low power warnings, and I believe that it did affect the sound quality.
I ended up getting another one for about $20 more that was was rated at 3A and works great.
The round plug marked 2.5A or the USB port (who knows its rating?)
Also, were you powering up the HDMI port for a display and running the WiFi transmitter on your Raspberry Pi when you saw the warning?
I've pretty much shut everything down and would really be surprised if I'm drawing anywhere close to the 2.5A limit of the wall wart that came with the Raspberry Pi.
Logic fail. There would be no way to see the warning if I had HDMI disabled. The amount of power the BT and WIFI require should be negligible. With the 3A LPS I can plug in a 4TB USB hard drive and watch 1080p movies on Kodi with no warnings.
while running PcP. Also no display or WiFi. Seems to last forever running continuously on a 24,000 mAh battery (couple days?) so I'm guessing I would be pulling 1 Amp at 5V?
Now I have a USB stick in one of the ports while trying out Moode. Sure sounds good!
So the low voltage warning is not part of the display I'm seeing while controlling the Raspberry Pi with an iPad? Makes sense that I'd never be aware of it then, even when running the Raspberry Pi from a cell phone charger.
But if I do start using the USB ports to power a hard drive? 2.5A/5V won't do it? Even if the hard drive has it OWN wall wart/power supply?
Still haven't decided how I'm going to use these things, at the end of the day.
Right now I'm trying to determine what player software and what configuration sounds best for ripped CDs and Hi Rez downloads. Pretty happy with PcP for streaming TIDAL and QOBUZ though. As good or better than my MacBook Air streaming to the USB DAC in my local DAC/Headphone amp.
Also like to free up ALL of the computers on my network from audio tasks (wife sees a computer on with no one in front of it, it's soon to be OFF!). Replacing them all with RaspberryPi's plugged into the local network.
The Raspberry Pi only shows a low voltage warning in the upper right hand corner(Lightning bolt or small patch of rainbow depending on the program you are using) on an HDMI connected device. I you have the HDMI disabled in the settings of your music player you will still get a display and any warnings(over heat or under voltage) until the program has finished booting.
Using a standard 2.5A wall wart I never got low power warnings, but the sound seemed terrible after hearing it with other power options.
The IFI worked fine and had great sound for about 3 days and then I started getting low power warning. Sent back.
The "Jay" Power supply gave me low power warnings right out of the starting gate.
No power warnings running from battery as long as the battery was at full charge, I didn't connect a hard drive, and used the 2.5A output. Didn't care for the sound when using the battery. Lower noise floor than the wall wart, but music seemed flat, lifeless, and a little harsh for some reason.
3A 5V Linear Power supply. No power warnings ever and low noise floor. Works with a USB hard drive connected, but the power supply gets very warm.
In every case the sound seemed better when I wasn't getting power warnings than when I was. Seems logical that the Raspberry PI and I2S DAC would perform better with full power than under power.
Do you think it's the I2S DAC requiring more power than say a Digi+ Pro I2S to S/PDIF converter.for a 24,000 mAh battery to last 2-3 days while running continuosly, I can't be drawing even an amp at 5V.

Seems like the difference would be negligible. The Jay's Audio LPS and IFI both gave me voltage warnings even with no I2S device plugged it. I don't know what was up with the IFI, but I think the Jay's Audio was not really meant to be used with the RP3. That might explain why Audiophonics disconnected it. The Jay's audio version appears to be a clone

Were you using the round 2.1mm jack or the USB jack when you got the low voltage indication?
Same result both ways.
Would I be a bad person if I asked what you thought about 0.3 vs 0.4? I liked 0.3 better.
I didn't try 0.3 because it wasn't supposed to be working with the Digi+ Pro from HifiBerry.
The phone support was all it took to get me on my way.
Unfortunately, unlike you, I don't know when to stop. 😝

Batman sent a SD card burned with Volumio so I will get back on it this weekend. I obtained a wifi dongle and hope it is plug and play. Ethernet cord to router has to be temporary for the WAF thing.

Your RPI has built-in WIFI which should work with your Digi+ Standard card. Installing the dongle driver could be difficult for novices like us.
For you using the Ethernet is just a way to set up the wifi.
I tried this weekend to no avail.
I can't believe music this good comes from a 100 buck device. The iFI micro DAC is icing on the cake.

WiFi worked from the Getgo with Raspbian. I'm convinced
Digi+Pro is not WiFi compatible. Sound is good enough that I'm willing to put up with Ethernet over a range extender. I'm not yet Linux literate enough yet to attempt to dongle my Pi.
The problem I had with the loss of SPDIF output from the Digi+Pro card turned out to be a defective (cheap) mccro SD card, something to bear in mind if one encounters strange behqavior. I've made a backup SD card, verified that it works and stored it away in case.

It's just the Digi+ Pro with WiFi....... I have 5 Digi+ Rpi's around the House running just fine - 3 with WiFi.... I also have an Rpi with the Digi+ Pro board running with Ethernet just fine........ Every Rpi I have is running PiCorePlayer!
Hook a long Ethernet Cable to your RPi until they get a fix..... Forget WiFi for your Main System anyway... Always use an Ethernet Cable. I only use WiFi for the Radio and Back round music....Cut-Throat

I did. It's connected via a short Ethernet cable to a wireless extender sitting right behind it. It sounds so much better than the SB Duet it replaces because the Duet downsamples 96MHz files to 48.
It's probably just some code that they need to add to support the Digi+ Pro..... Only a guess on my part though.

For PiCorePlayer it looks like their firmware for wifi gets kicked out and is unable to load when the Digi+ Pro is connected.
I looked in the modprobe.conf file and none of the wifi firmware is listed.
Looking back at PiCore it looks like this problem comes and goes with different releases. They will likely fix it 'again'
In the mean time I did get a WiFi Dongle to work using DietPi with the Digi+ Pro connected. Works perfectly!

I think you are right about the Digi+ Pro not being compatible with WiFi [RPi's Internal WiFi]
I just got WiFi working with a Dongle using DietPi by editing a couple of files.
Bypass internal WiFi card and use your own WiFi Dongle
Do not configure WiFi in the Diet-pi GUI. Instead navigate via SSH to
/etc/wpa-supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf
Then add your network name and password. The file should look like this...

But this fix doesn't enable me to move the pi around the house since it will always try to find one SSID?
Don't understand
You can move the Rpi anywhere you want when on WiFi provided you get a signal.
Also you can't 'brick' a Rpi....the whole OS is on the flash card, if it does not boot just re-flash it.

Your SSID is your router name
All your wireless devices have different IP's
This merely connects your RPi to your wireless network by first identifying the correct SSID or router name and then by using the correct password.
