I've been lurking here following the discussions about using the Pi as a music server and would like to build one. I currently have a SB Duet. I know the Pi is cheap and I'll likely end up building several. For the time being I'd like to try using it with the DAC's in my several systems so I'll get the DIGI+ Pro board with the S/PDIF output. But I'd also like to try it with my hi quality DIY headphone amps that need an analog input.
Is there any way to get both digital and analog outputs from one unit? The only way I can see is to switch between DIGI and DAC boards. I wouldn't want to use the USB or Bluetooth outputs of the Pi. I fully realize that I'll likely end up building more than one unit based on what you guys have said. I just want to experiment first.
Follow Ups:
My RPi has a 1/8 miniplug output on the main board, which might work for your headphones. I also got the digi + board and use the coax out to my sound processor with excellent results.
Do what Brother Bill???
I am having a hard enough time just plugging the streamer into the DAC.
Whenever you figure out what you are trying to accomplish, make one for me will you?
