Well done playmate, very nice!
Another european place to meet cMP2's friends.
Italian forum, thanks to bibo01 and others friends, grows up gradually but costantly.
Now I feel the strong request to sytematize the great number of variants of the original cics' project because the structure of audioasylum it's not the best one for this use so it's impossible to rebuild each steps, valid or not, of each proposal ( steppe, jackwong and so on)done until now.
Best could be to leave some complete manual for these new upgrades....
Hey Audiodan,Thanks for your acknowledgement and comment.
When I structured the German site (and previously the danish cMP² site) I was also thinking how to make the most of it.
I´ve done about 6-7 cMP² machines for friends and myself and neither of them are done exactly the same.
I actually think the nLite way, is the best way to setup a contemporary system (eventually with the nLite configuration file to download), and then apply the other changes as in normal order. The offset from a slimmed (nLite)system would seem most obvious for new/comming fans of cMP² to understand.
In respect and regard to the original cMP² site, I refrained such strategy on the german and danish ones.
Another issue for newcomers could also be, they might like to take smaller steps at a time and not "ruin" their computer from scratch...
It´s a difficult one....
kind regards Leif

Hi playmate
I've done a different experience about nlite, because after an year of tests on more or less slimmer versions ( mihaylov and steppe with or witout nlite jolida version too) at the end I've found the original cics' setup the best sounding of all. Each slimmer version is more ethereal, very clear and dry without the beefy character that a realistic musical reproduction must have, IMHO.
Moreover after a while I've lost the way in the developement of the various step of each version, so my opinion could be wrong. I think it could be better to order each proposal in clear manuals from start to the end for every version of them.
Ciao
Daniele
Hi Daniele,
I think that everybody who started/experienced the various "steps" of deleting sys.drivers and DLL´s was surprised over the different sonic impact certain meassurements made.
Suddenly it was (not always) : "less is more....."
It will be difficult to explain these empirical findings in technical terms, and I´m not sure there is not a synergy to some of these "steps".
-but there is definitely some magic !
I´m pretty sure that there is a sonic difference between cMP2 machines when they are configured with the same steps, but implemented in different order....
-at least I´ve experienced that machines sometimes behave irregular to modifications done in different order.
Can we even be sure that a german, danish, italian or english XP sound all the same ?
I find nLite intriguing and I´m sure we could find a configuration that will yield a near perfect platform for further cMP optimisations.
The big question is : how !
kind regards
