Well, my Bifrsot has over 100 hours on it; and I just picked up a Jolida 102b to swap out for the Audioengine N22 I was using. All I can say is WOW! The improvement over the HRT Streamer (original version)and N22 amp is stunning. Soundstage has opened up both width and depth and detail is vastly improved. Vocals are full and now I know why guitar amps use tubes. Keb Mo, Carlos Santana just have much more detail. And Jimi Hendrix sounds even more amazing. No problem with volume in a relatively small room, 10 X 11. I was thinking about replacing my Klipsch kg3.5s maybe with Zu Omens, but now I'm pretty happy with the sound. Thinking about ditching my itunes for JRiver. When I tried the 30-day free trial, I liked the sound, but had trouble getting it to play nice with my SB Touch. I had to uninstall and reinstall my squeezeserver to bring it back to life. Think I'll have another go at it. Anyone else have trouble with JRMC and SBT?
Follow Ups:
Right now my SB Touch works flawlessly. Wirelessly pulls HiRez files and all my ALAC files from my laptop upstairs and plays them on my HT rig in the family room. My laptop upstairs plays flac files on WMP with a plug in and itunes takes care of the rest. It's not a big deal to switch between players when I'm on the laptop anyway. When I tried JRiver, it sounded a little better than itunes and WMP, but not a lot better. The Jolida and the bifrost (not sure in which order) made a much bigger difference. I keep asking myself why I want to use JRiver upstairs and have to mess with Whitebear or anything else to get my SB Touch to work right. I've been lurking on the different forums (JRiver, logitech, whitebear, etc.); and it seems that it's a real headache. Right now my systems do everything I want them to. Why would I change it? My laptop rig sounds better than my downstairs set up for 2 channel, just not as loud (but close.) The only thing I'm thinking about is trying my Bifrost on my downstairs rig to see if it improves the sound. If it does, I'll sell my XDA-1 and get another Bifrost.
No Touch here, try JR14 (Media Jukebox) free forever. Seems to fit the bill for me. I have bifrost and mine sounds good everyday.
