Hello to All,
For the past year I have been seeing on Ebay non ceramic sockets for the 6c33 tube. They are light brown in color and look to be amphenol. The person states that they are the true Russian originals for the 6c33 tube. My question is whether anyone has tried this socket and if they have, could they tell me how this socket stands up to the ceramics, including the fine American Johnson's or Millens?
Sincerely,
RobG.

Thank you all for your inplut, especially holm who stated that they were not to be used for the 6c33 tube.
Sincerely,
RobG.
That sockets are'nt really 6C33C sockets, they are for the samller 6C41C or the GMI-6 (thats what I use in this sockets).
The 4 metallic blades around the mounting holes are the rest of 4 blade springs that can hold the tubes in the sockets.
The sockets are stinking for a while whe they go hot. Don't use them
for the 6C33C! I don't think, that the contacts can hold up the
heather current.I've attached a photo from my Mono's whit the springs on the sockets still intact. (14 Watts push pull Tetrode :-) )

Hi.The tube body of 6C33C is rated up to 300C, & can get higher is
ventilation is not adequate.Ceramic is the best bet with silver plated pin contacts. But, many ceramic sockets fail due to the exposed metal pin spring contacts can't survive long term heating from the tube cylinder.
I have seen a British made with teflon moulded socket with silver plated pins contacts totally embeded inside the socket body. It is said the pin contacts will survive longer heated up much longer than the exposed pin contact structures as seen in many those ceramic sockets.
Of course, that British made costs a lot more to buy. It is also medium brown colour.

Rob,The only Russian 6C33C sockets I have ever seen are white ceramic with silver plated contacts.. never came across any brown (mica?) parts.
In the older days, each 6C33C shipped with one of these white ceramic sockets, right in the box with the new tube. I'd be slightly skeptical of others sold as 'original Russian'.
Hi Bill,
They are priced at $22.00 plus $12.00 postage for 4 sockets. Here's the link:

Rob,Interesting, I've never seen that type of socket for the 6C33C. They do look like quality parts, though.
I bought a few of those brown ones. I haven`t used them yet so
realy don`t know how they will hold up but the tubes go in real
easy. I was expecting more contact pressure. I now wish I had gone
with the ceramic ones.Woody Tyrone Ga. U.S.A.
