🙄
Follow Ups:
Yes, the OJC version. After that are the re-masters from DCC and JVC (K2 editions). Actually, the remasters are not bad at all, well done. I enjoy the bonus tracks too.
...IMO. The DCC edition was great, I had one and stupidly damaged it. For a redbook format I ended up having the Japanese mini-LP Digital K2 from the late '90s and Keepnews versions. Both are different, but very good to my ears. The latest Japanese single layered SACD is also very good.
erik-
what are the catalog# / matrix # on the newest Japan single-layer SACD?
Where did you purchase?

Is cdjapan easy to transact ?
I've never had a problem with them. Very reliable with great customer service.
Pretty easy to set up an account? Any issues w/ shipping to U.S.A. ?
As easy as it gets. Never had any issues with their shipping either.
How ya doin' Twealer456 ?
I'm still above ground and recovering from the Kenny G photo. Haven't got the Hallmark non "bonus" track Bill Evans Portrait cd yet. Thanks for asking. Vote early and vote often. T456

Keep me posted.
I have listened to the Hallmark Original Recording of Portrait in Jazz by Evans. I bought this because it was of central importance to someone I know who is into jazz piano in a big way with similar taste. Evan's playing on this is more aggressive than any other recording I have of his. Up till now I chose the darkest and most lyrical of his recordings from my perception and sampling. Very fine music throughout. As to the recording itself it seems free of hiss with the possible exception of the beginning of Some Day My Princess Will Come, not. Very very quiet background. It is almost mono like in nature. The piano is large, upfront with very little side to side motion. Drummer pretty quiet and also in the center. The bass is to the right. Everything stays the same throughout the whole disk. I'd say a somewhat unusual recording but very good. No "bonus" tracks. A very pure listening experience. T456

Much Thanks! for the follow up- Tweaker456
what is the year, catalog# or matrix # of this disc?
IME, Bill Evans certainly mastered (no pun) the Piano Trio, sets a very high standard.
Only one Hallmark that I can see. Here it is for $6.80. 713662 on the case.

Very interesting- T456.
Much Thanks! Tweaker,
I am not familiar w/ this Hallmark label? That is the reason I asked about it and a catalog/matrix # ?
Could be a knock-off label like "Jazz Heritage"?
