The Artie Shaw seems a bit tame for me.
The Johnny Mathis disco version has the power but way dated.
Follow Ups:
Artie Shaw's version has a terrific beat, and the rendition perfectly fits the lyrics. It was a huge hit.
Johnny Mathis. He does a more upbeat powerful version with a big ending. Just wish he had lost the disco touches.

Slow and in a minor key.
Never been a big fan of her voice though.
Pick one.
nt.
Although I haven't found the clarinet version on Amazon yet.
It's on YT. Not tame! There's a lovely 1939 recording as well - beautiful impressionistic chords

I also have a soft spot for Xavier Cugat playing it as a Rumba. Very nice!

I must confess to not being a big fan of Tatum - I'm an Earl Hines
kind of guy. I am, however, perpetually in awe of Tatum's pianistic
prowess and genius. Hines' too.
