I first heard "Ich ruf zu dir" in the 70's as part of the soundtrack in the movie, "Solaris". It's heard in both its organ original and later with some instrumental embellishments. My wife and I both refer to the chorale prelude now as "Theme from 'Solaris'". ;-)
I can vouch for a couple of recordings of the Busoni transcription: one with Nicolai Demekenko on Hyperion and one with Kevin Oldham on VAI - the Oldham recording has exceptionally clear textures like no other performance, and his approach works well in this particular transciption, but he has some other performances on that CD where he sacrifices drama for the sake of beauty of tone and clarity of texture - not every listener will like that trade-off, but for me, the textures are so beautifully clear, that it's almost worth it to lose some of the drama.

Worth checking out, thanks! Btw, always wanted to ask you about loudspeaker recommendation (had post some time ago on Speakers that do piano right) I see, you didn't go all - planar. I am still searching...

If I had the money right now, I'd go all VMPS RM50 Dual Line Source Bipole SERIES II's. Well, actually, that would probably be overkill for the rears - I'd probably re-use my existing RM2's for that. I like my RM2's, but I love the dispersion that bipole's would give me. Of course, a lot of this is just subjective personal taste.
